Designed for a closed circle user community from Rutgers University, the Fit Survivor fitness app was developed to help teenage cancer survivors regain a healthy life style and social life.
Crafting an easy to use and entertaining mobile application was one of the main design aspects when developing Fit Survivor.
The main challenge was to design the interface in a short 2 weeks span and have it ready for production in 1 months time after reviewing with the client and update accordingly.
The core functionality of the mobile application was the Fitbit connectivity and data transfer where the smart watch wearer can review the daily activity and also share it with their group of friends. The main challenge the team had when implementing the application was the slow data visualisation from Fitbit watch to our interface. This was fixed by eliminating custom UI elements as much as possible and also switching from Java library to the Android one.
Since the application was built for teenagers, the UI had to be fun and entertaining to keep the users active and also to reach their daily/weekly goals. Implementing a digital reward system was on of the ideas we had to improve the usage time the application. Each workout completed by the users and each achieved goal was awarded with a custom badge. The badge would be shared on social media and among other internal app users.
